What can Acupuncture and Herbs (Oriental Medicine) treat?

We balance and treat the whole body.  Oriental medicine doesn’t distinguish various diseases per se as Western medicine.  We look at the inter-relationship of all the body’s systems to regulate a balance, for  symptoms or diseases manifest when the balance is off.  For example, someone with diarrhea may have an external pathogen such as a virus,  maybe the energy of the spleen is weak and the spleen isn’t able to digest properly, or maybe they are  suffering from too much internal cold.  We address the underlying cause and not just the symptom – when the underlying cause is balanced, several symptoms resolve or become more manageable.  There are often one or two major underlying causes but this will usually lead to the imbalance of other systems, which subsequently produce another set of symptoms.  We don’t “chase” the symptoms; instead, we focus on the underlying causes.  This is what differentiates the Eastern medical approach from the Western one, but ultimately, the goal for both is to increase the quality of one’s life.  Thus, by treating the underlying imbalances we are able to address symptoms such as:

  • Stress / Tension
  • Fatigue / Low energy
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Digestive problems
  • Respiratory problems
  • Heart problems / Palpitations

  • Allergies / Asthma
  • Bell’s palsy
  • Arthritis / Joint pain
  • Sciatica and back pain
  • Depression / Anxiety
  • Sport’s injuries

  • Bladder and kidney problems
  • Menopausal discomforts
  • Constipation / Diarrhea
